Wildlife Teeming With Our Rangelands: Management Decisions For Deer And Other Wildlife
Goal
To promote land management practices that provide for both the enhancement of ecological values and the preservation of Central California’s historic ranching traditions.
Description
Wildlife are home on Central Coast Rangelands – how can we help wildlife, especially deer, thrive alongside profitable livestock operations? In the fall of 2013, the Central Coast Rangeland Coalition discussed managing wildlife, with a focus on deer. The usual mix of lands managers, livestock operators, conservationists, scientists, educators, land owners, agency personnel, and outdoors people attended and the group heard from a variety of perspectives on this subject, which is important to the group’s vision of sustaining vibrant human and ecological communities on the Central Coast’s rangelands.
