The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Garden Bugs

Description: Most gardens contain far more good bugs, or beneficial insects, than pest insects.  It’s important to be able to identify the beneficial insects in our gardens and how to manage the unwelcome pests without harm to the environment.

Learning Objectives: In this class you will learn about:
 - Beneficial insects and the pests they love (and we don’t!)
 - Integrated pest management (IPM) techniques to control damaging insects
 - Garden tactics that encourage beneficial insects

Presenter Master Gardener Eliana Bushwalter: Eliana loves working in the garden and volunteering with UC Master Gardeners when she is not traveling and hiking in our national parks. She grew up with a love for the outdoors and, as the daughter of an entomologist whose life work focused on integrated pest management and biological control, Eliana developed a love of insects and the role they play in our natural world.
