Eight more UCCE advisor positions released

UC ANR's hiring blitz continues! Thanks to the increased 2021-22 state funding, eight more UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Advisor positions are now released for recruitment. The recruitments are being staged to avoid overwhelming our Human Resources colleagues.

  • 06 Central Sierra Local Food Systems Advisor, Amador
  • 10 Vertebrate Pest Management Advisor, Napa
  • 14 Specialty Crops Advisor, Sonoma
  • 17 Viticulture Advisor, San Joaquin (with Sacramento, Stanislaus, and nearby areas)
  • 48 Integrated Pest Management Advisor, San Diego
  • 51 4-H Youth Development Advisor, Placer-Nevada
  • Environmental Horticulture Advisor, Los Angeles
  • Fire Advisor, San Benito (with Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey)

The positions with numbers lower than 68 have proposals available on the 2018 Call for Positions webpage. Some modifications have been made to meet present needs. Headquarter counties are indicated above, as are additional coverage counties where decisions vary from the submitted proposal. The positions with no numbers were identified as current, high-priority needs through discussions with UC ANR leadership groups, including County Directors, Statewide Program/Institute Directors, and REC Directors. Program Teams also provided input on priorities.

Including those above, to date 28 UCCE positions have been released over the past three months. The full list is posted and kept updated on the 2021 Release of UCCE Positions web page. There is also a table of the overall staged process.

VP Humiston plans to announce additional UCCE positions in mid-November.

Later in winter and spring 2022, 70 or so more UCCE positions will be released as a result of the 2021 Call for CE Positions. The new position-proposal development process is underway. People across the ANR network have begun meeting and having conversations about priority proposals to meet current and future needs. More about this process is available on the 2021 Call for Positions web page

Last but not least, along with the hiring of more than 100 new UCCE academics, UC ANR is investing in critical programmatic and administrative support to make the expansion of the UC ANR footprint successful. Directors have been updated on this plan. A brief, high-level overview will be shared broadly during the October 21 Town Hall.
