Another good reason to plant your own pineapple guava is the flowers in the spring. The white, succulent petals are beautiful and edible. They look great in salad.

As a kid, I considered our Strawberry Guava bush to be my personal candyland in October/November. I'd shake the branches, and whichever fruits fell were ripe. I'd roll each one in my hand till it felt squishy, then bite off the tip and squish the mooshy flesh into my mouth. Yum!

Lucky me - my puppy has discovered them. Now it is a race for the fallen fruits.
