This last week started with us waking up to learn of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria. Drone footage, satellite imagery, news reports all show the devastation.

Beginnings

Last week was an exciting week in ANR. We welcomed David Gonzalves as our new Area Director for Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. David has worked for Tuolumne and Merced Counties as well as UC Merced. He brings his agricultural roots and administrative expertise to UC ANR.

Senseless acts of violence

There is hope in new beginnings. The week began with more news from the Monterey Park shootings. That was followed by shootings in Half Moon Bay. More shots in Oakland. Saturday's news was about another shooting in the LA area (Beverly Crest). Prior to these was a shooting in Goshen.
