The UCCE San Diego team held its annual holiday party at a local agricultural operation in Ramona, offering an opportunity to learn about sustainable practices, agritourism and land-use challenges.
The celebration also featured a vibrant and flavorful team-building activity, where eight trios were tasked with decorating gingerbread houses that showcased their UCCE programs, thematic interests, and personal connection to agriculture and natural resource management.

“This friendly competition sparked creativity and collaboration, with some teams even incorporating unique pests, native plants, and compost bins into their candy creations,” said Chandra Richards, UCCE San Diego director. “The event strengthened team culture across the San Diego office, reinforcing UCCE’s principles of community and partnership.”
Suzanne Lake, administrative officer, called the team-building competition “a big success!”
Lake shared Box links to a PowerPoint presentation showing all eight of the elaborately decorated gingerbread houses with candy landscapes. She also shared a fun five-minute video of the teams explaining how their gingerbread homes depict their UC ANR research and outreach activities.
