Doris Howes Calloway was a pioneer in the early development of human nutritional science. Several of Calloway's former students are working on a book chronicling her role in establishing the research base for addressing nutrition and health problems across the lifespan.

Fred S. Conte, UC Cooperative Extension aquaculture specialist emeritus at UC Davis, passed away Feb. 19, 2021. Conte was born March 10, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to Raphael and Etta Conte. He has one older brother, Frank.
