Climate Smart Agriculture

Many growers have been asking for updates on upcoming SWEEP and Healthy Soils application rounds. Good news! CDFA has announced that both programs will be open for new applications this fall 2023. We still do not know exact dates, but CDFA did release draft grant proposals for both programs.

Bailey Smith-Helman is our newest Community Education Specialist with the UC ANR Climate Smart Agriculture Program based in Santa Cruz County. She is excited to provide technical assistance to growers interested in climate smart agriculture practices.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) provides financial incentives to encourage farmers and ranchers to adopt climate-smart practices that help build on-farm resilience in face of a changing climate.

Solidarity Farms is one of the farms that have been proactive regarding soil health. Since purchasing the farm, the farm owners have focused on improving soil health. They have won a few grants geared towards improving soil health.
