In May 2020 UCCE San Benito County, in partnership with the Resources Conservation District of Monterey County, was awarded a $379,000 CAL FIRE Fire Prevention Grant to develop a prescribed burn association covering San Benito, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties.

The atmospheric river event in October of 2021 followed by mild temperatures in northern California turned many grasslands green but may have also resulted in advantageous growing conditions for many types of mushrooms.

Three hours of continuing education credits (including 1 hour of laws and regs) have just been approved by California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) for the 20th Annual Continuing Education Seminar for Ranchers. This free, online event will take place on December 8, 2021.

UC Cooperative Extension will be hiring a Fire Advisor on the Central Coast: https://ucanr.edu/about/jobs/?jobnum=1934. The position will be headquartered in San Benito County (Hollister) and will also cover Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Monterey counties. Applications are due January 10, 2022.
