The National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference aims to strengthen federal nutrition programs, close food access gaps for low-income communities, and develop innovative strategies to end hunger nationwide. Sponsored by the Food Research & Action Center in cooperation with the National CACFP Forum, the three-day annual event brought together advocates, government officials, and nutrition organizations for interactive trainings, policy discussions, and networking opportunities. During this year's conference in Washington, D.C., May 4-6, 2025, Nutrition Policy Institute researcher Dania Orta-Aleman co-presented during a Mini-Plenary on Healthy School Meals for All, sharing early findings from states that have implemented universal school meal policies and highlighting their positive impact on food security, meal quality, and school communities. The session also explored solutions to persistent challenges such as staffing shortages, outdated kitchen infrastructure, ultra-processed foods, and limited time for students to eat.
