Hi, my name is Ava Mattia and I am 14 and in Miners Ravine 4-H Club.
I am the Communications Officer and in the pygmy goat, poultry, and alpaca projects. This year has been rough, to say the least, in all parts of my life. At school, I have been distance learning, homeschooled, cohort grouped and most recently, half-day classes. 4-H has been distance learning and now small in-person meetings. It's hard to get excited about things when they change so fast, but one thing I have been excited about it is being an officer in Miners Ravine 4-H Community Club because we have been thinking of lots of fun ways for kids to stay engaged.
The officer team recently held an online game night where we played Kahoot, BINGO, scavenger hunt, and charades. All the games were 4-H themed. We gave away amazing prizes for winners and participants. It was so much fun and our club plans to do it again in April.
The officer team also created a revolving 4-H project, to show what kids are up to in a photo slideshow. Maverick Zaztke is our club historian, he is doing an amazing job! Each month during the online community meetings, he adds new pictures that members email him. They can be pictures of project or just pictures of what kids have been doing. It's fun to see what all of my friends are up to since I don't get to see them much in-person.
The officer team also created a Classified section to our monthly agenda where kids who have businesses or skills or things to sell can post them. Kids email skills or items to Jack Davis, the club secretary and he posts them on the agenda. It's been fun to see the things for sale and the businesses that my 4-H friends have.
We are also planning a craft day as well. The officers and I are still figuring out the details.
