Claire Tuohey-Mote joined UCANR in January 2025 and is working as a Staff Research Associate with the Small Farms Network. She is based in San Luis Obispo and will be working with small farmers in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. Claire will be focused on grant and incentive program technical assistance, specifically California Underserved Small Producer (CUSP) grants that aim to support farmers in their recovery from weather related damages (drought, flooding, wind, etc.).
She is also available to connect small farmers to UCANR resources in other technical areas such as production improvement, law and regulatory compliance, and food safety practices. As she builds her farmer network, she will be focusing technical assistance in the San Luis Obispo County and Northern Santa Barbara County region to establish and cultivate strong relationships in these areas before moving farther a field.
