Thinking about transitioning your crop operation to organic? Join us for a ten-week webinar series designed to guide producers through every major step of the organic transition.
Each week features practical guidance from UC specialists, farmer speakers, and technical assistance providers—covering everything from certification basics and recordkeeping to soil fertility, weed and pest management, market access, and inspection prep.
Spanish and Hmong interpretation will be available at every session.
SESSION TOPICS (10 Sessions)
Weeks 1–3
• Farmer perspectives on transitioning to organic
• Certification requirements, organic system plans, and choosing a certifier
• Organic market channels, pricing, and buyer expectations
Weeks 4–6
• Determining which products and materials are allowed in organic production
• Farm practices that maintain and improve biodiversity and natural resources
• Organic soil health & fertility strategies
Weeks 7–10
• Cover crop selection, seeding rates, and integrating cover crops into nutrient management
• Organic pest and disease management
• Managing weeds using ecological and mechanical tools
• Preparing for organic inspection + inspector/farmer panel
