Do you need to learn how to prune your fruit trees so they will produce bountiful fruit during the summer? Do you need help selecting bare root fruit trees for your garden this winter?

Find out the answers to these questions and more by attendingthe next Advice to Grow By workshop presented by the University of California Master Gardener Program.

This free presentation is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, from 10 a.m.  to noon at the Garden of the Seven Sisters, 2156 Sierra Way in San Luis Obispo.

During this workshop, you will learn how to select bare root fruit trees which will thrive in your microclimate and how to successfully plant them.  The presenters will discuss winter and summer pruning techniques and how to use and care for pruning tools.  Additional discussion topics include fertilizing, irrigating, chill hours, along with pest and disease management.

After the presentation, there will be a pruning demonstration in the fruit orchard. Master Gardener volunteers will be on site to answer your gardening questions.
