It's been a dry spring so far, and I'm thankful for the current rains!
Here are a few firsts in my spring garden. This is the first bloom on an Eden climbing rose. I'm delighted with the pink color and the old English rose presentation. Pink Eden typically has 55 to 70 petals per rose.

Next is a red bush California native monkeyflower (Diplacus puniceus). I have found monkeyflowers extremely challenging to grow, contrary to expectations for a Ca native plant. Somehow this third attempt is working in mostly shade, with 3 different colors all still alive (the orange and yellow monkeyflowers are not blooming yet).
This red pelargonium cutting I rooted from a former neighbor and MG Karen Norton's backyard two years ago. When I last saw the pelargonium in Karen's yard, it was a glorious riot of red blooms in a container on her patio.
Lastly, here is a Dwarf Everbearing mulberry (Morus nigra), purchased in summer 2024, and planted in the ground a few months ago. It is fruiting for the first time. The tiny berries are comparable in size to blueberries, but should grow bigger as the tree matures. We enjoyed these superfood mulberries with breakfast this morning.
Cheers and Happy Gardening!
