An exhibit at the Oakland Museum of CA opened this past weekend called, "Take Root: Oakland Grows Food." This exhibit explores urban gardening/agriculture in Oakland and how that is impacting the city at large. The exhibit is divided into 3 parts--first, looking at the state of urban agriculture in Oakland, where it thrives and does not thrive; second, teaching attendees about the ecosystem and co-existence of insects, creatures and humans together in an urban garden setting; and third, a children's play area to teach the young ones the value of growing one's own food. There is also a video in which Oakland residents discuss their experience about why they decided to turn urban gardening and agriculture in their community.
The exhibit runs from December 16, 2017–January 13, 2019 and ticket prices vary. For more information and pictures of the exhibit, please see http://museumca.org/blog/behind-scenes-take-root
