The University of California opposes limits on the free flow of students, faculty, scholars and researchers that are at the core of the University's education, research and public service missions. On Jan. 29, UCOP issued the statement below addressing the executive order that temporarily restricts entry into the United States by people from seven Muslim-majority countries. I share the concerns expressed by President Napolitano and the chancellors.
To my knowledge, no UC ANR academics have been detained. However, the travel restrictions could deter UC ANR members from the affected countries from traveling outside the U.S. to events that may be important to their work.
