Masks remain a requirement for UC ANR personnel while working on-site or in the field
In response to recent updates of public health guidance concerning use of masks by the general public in certain outdoor settings, we have updated and clarified UC ANR's requirements for employees to wear a mask while working onsite or in the field. With limited exceptions, employees are still required to wear a mask when working indoors and when working outdoors and less than 6 feet away from other persons. The University of California Office of the President invites comments on a proposed Presidential Policy - Fee Policy for Graduate Student In Absentia Registration. The policy is proposed to be revised and includes the following key issues:
- The revisions to the policy language would permit Deans to establish “a local campus region within which in absentia registration will not be considered” instead of limiting eligibility to students studying outside of California.

The University of California Office of the President invites comments on a proposed Presidential Policy, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program. The policy includes the following key issues:
- Encourages universal vaccination
- Requires students, faculty, academic appointees, and staff living, learning or working on premises or participating in person in University programs receive a COVID-19 vaccine
- Provides for narrow exceptions and medical/disability exemptions

As UC employees continue to face complications as a result of the pandemic, the University has decided to offer all employees a new 2021 allotment of Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL), in addition to the current UC Paid Administrative Leave program. In the past year, UC has announced several agreements with major publishers of scholarly journals, including Elsevier and Springer Nature. These agreements include provisions for funding to cover the article processing charges (APCs) for open-access publication of articles in those publishers' journals. APCs would otherwise be borne by authors.
Under the agreements, UC campus libraries all contribute to a systemwide fund to cover the APCs.
