Dear Colleagues,
A few of you in the ANR community have inquired about UC ANR participating in the March for Science events on Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day).
UC ANR will not have an official role in the March for Science and UC funds will not be used for the march, but I whole-heartedly support you promoting the value of scientific research to society on Earth Day and every day.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the March for Science, the organizers say they have two goals: to encourage the use of science to inform policy and to encourage scientists to reach out to people in their communities and discuss the research they do and explain why it is important. Events are being held in San...
Dear Colleagues:
As you know, attracting and retaining highly qualified employees is a top priority for UC ANR. To be more competitive among many diverse employment markets, we have developed a plan to address the competitiveness of our staff salaries.

For some of you whose compensation has fallen behind market rates, the Division is making a significant effort to address this issue, as long...

However, the travel restrictions could deter UC ANR members from the affected countries from traveling outside the U.S. to events that may be important to their work. It may also cause uneasiness among work-visa holders and green-card holders and I want to reassure you that you have our support.
If you have any...
Vice President Glenda Humiston will host a Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., to discuss UC ANR's new five-year Strategic Plan. The plan defines 15 goals to enhance UC ANR's research and extension mission, support employees and volunteers, address financial stability, bolster administrative excellence and increase awareness of UC ANR's value. Members of the senior leadership team will present the main points of the plan and address any questions you may have.
The strategic plan, which can be viewed at http://ucanr.edu/stratplan1.10.2017, will guide us as we “operationalize” our
