Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to invite you to a Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., to discuss the new five-year UC ANR Strategic Plan. Members of the senior leadership team will present the main points of the plan and address any questions you may have.
In August 2016, President Napolitano requested a five-year strategic plan for UC ANR by December 2016. To meet that ambitious deadline, the Senior Leadership Team worked closely with the strategic planning resources at UCOP and UC ANR to guide us through a rigorous process. We enlisted the assistance of...
Dear Colleagues,
As we wrap up 2016, I want to take a moment to thank you for everything you've done on behalf of UC ANR this year. Whether you are conducting research, organizing extension programs, teaching nutrition, leading volunteers or quietly working behind the scenes to support our various activities, your work makes a huge difference in the lives of all Californians.
In addition to those activities, many of you also took the time to give feedback to the recent strategic planning exercise, gathered to exchange ideas at the Research to Policy conference, or contributed to enhancing the UC ANR mission in many other ways. A special thanks to the folks who chaired a committee, led a program team or served...
Dear Colleagues,
I am happy to announce the release of 26 academic positions (http://ucanr.edu/sites/anrstaff/files/253192.pdf) for a new round of hiring over the next 2 years.
These positions are now in the queue and will be released for recruitment in phases as we continue recruiting for more than 25 specialist and advisor positions yet unfilled from the 2014 process. This new release continues our commitment for hiring to exceed projected turnover, thus achieving our goal of academic growth. And, as funding becomes available, we will consider additional positions.
At present,...
Dear Colleagues,
UC Office of the President has issued a statement of its principles regarding the privacy and civil rights of undocumented members of the UC community. These principles may be of interest to UC ANR volunteers, program participants and other stakeholders.
In the press release, UC President Janet Napolitano said, “While we still do not know what policies and practices the incoming federal administration may adopt, given the many public pronouncements made during the presidential campaign and its aftermath, we felt it necessary to reaffirm that UC will act upon its deeply held conviction that all members of our community have the right to work, study, and live safely and without fear at all UC...
Dear Colleagues,
Following a national search, Wendy Powers has been named UC ANR's new associate vice president. Dr. Powers, who has been a Michigan State University professor in the departments of Animal Science and Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering since 2006, will assume her position with UC ANR in Oakland on Monday, June 20.
Dr. Powers brings excellent executive skills from a different land grant college so she will be a great addition to ANR's leadership team. She knows Cooperative Extension and has experience in helping programs grow, which will be very valuable as we expand the CE footprint in California. An accomplished researcher and administrator, Dr. Powers has the leadership qualities to help...
