After much deliberation, I have decided to step down as UC ANR vice provost of Cooperative Extension to return to the field. I will be transitioning to the role of area Integrated Pest Management Cooperative Extension advisor, with responsibilities in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura, effective Jan. 1, 2017.
Over the next couple of months, I will work closely with Associate Vice President Wendy Powers and the Academic Human Resources unit to recruit and appoint the next vice provost of Cooperative Extension. I am pleased to announce that after a nationwide search we have selected Christopher Greer, Ph.D., to serve as the vice provost of UC Cooperative Extension effective July 1. Chris is currently UC Cooperative Extension director in Colusa, Sutter, Yuba and Glenn counties.
Since 2002, he has served as UCCE area rice advisor, first in Colusa, Glenn and Yolo counties, and most recently in Sutter, Yuba, Sacramento and Placer counties. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in plant pathology from UC Davis and B.S. in bioenvironmental sciences from Texas A&M University.

Five candidates are being considered to fill ANR's new vice provost position, which will oversee UC Cooperative Extension in the counties. ANR members are invited to watch the five candidates present their answers to the question, “What is your vision for the next 20 years for UC Cooperative Extension?” The candidates will also describe how they would provide leadership and advocacy for a unified ANR program with a strong statewide, campus and local presence.
