In ANR leaders’ discussions with Cooperative Extension specialists around the state, it became clear that there was a need for additional travel support to enable specialists to increase their collaborations with CE advisors. Dear Colleagues,
Continuing our commitment to hiring Cooperative Extension specialists and advisors, I am announcing the release of positions for future rounds of hiring. These positions are now in the queue and will be released for recruitment as we are sure funding is available to move forward. We will continue to be nimble and retain the ability to address unforeseen critical gaps as they emerge, so the hiring schedule may vary. Some positions have been, or may be, modified based upon timely programmatic analyses.
As a reminder, these positions emerged from the process where more than 120 Cooperative Extension positions were proposed and a thorough review was conducted. This review included the consideration of...

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share some exciting news. The California Rice Research Board has agreed to fund a UC Cooperative Extension specialist position for six years.

The $800 million rice industry makes California the nation’s second largest rice producer. UC conducts research on weed control, pest management and variety testing for rice crops to keep...

The submission period is being extended to allow as much time as possible for internal consultation and external input from ANR stakeholders in all program areas.
During the coming round, the position submission system will be open both for new submissions and for revision and resubmission of earlier position proposals that were not selected for recruitment. The online...

I am pleased to announce the second group of academic positions approved for recruitment and hiring. Eleven positions, including five specialists and six advisors, are being released for recruitment. As discussed in previous communications, these positions will be funded by salary reversions resulting from retirements and separations that have occurred over the last year.
Below are the specialist and advisor positions I have approved for recruitment and hiring in October 2011:
