Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the Letters of Intent (LOIs) that have been selected to move forward and submit full proposals to ANR's Competitive Grants Program. This year we received a total of 117 LOIs, inviting 47 of them to submit a full application. In 2014, ANR conducted a formative assessment of the grants program to evaluate whether the intended goals of the program were being met or if there were plans in place to achieve appropriate outcomes. As a result, applicants this year were required to address strategic initiative priority issue areas to better facilitate the identification and measurement of efforts and impacts.

This is a friendly reminder that nominations for the ANR Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Program for fiscal year 2014-15 must be submitted to anrstaffpersonnel@ucanr.edu by Thursday, April 30, 2015.
The STAR program allows ANR unit directors, managers and supervisors the opportunity to nominate outstanding ANR staff employees and employee teams below the executive level.

As you know, we are engaged in a serious conversation with Gov. Brown and legislative leaders regarding full State support for UC, including discussions about what a modern UC should look like, how much it should cost, who should pay for it and who should be able to attend. The UC ANR Informatics and Geographic Information Systems Statewide Program (IGIS) is pleased to announce that it has finalized the schedule of workshops that it will be offering for spring 2015. This series of agriculture and natural resources-oriented geographic information systems, remote sensing and global positioning system training workshops will be held at a variety of venues around California.
