Dear Colleagues,
The Executive Working Group and county directors are meeting today (June 8) to discuss potential future directions of UC’s Cooperative Extension partnership with county government. We will be discussing how we operate and new expectations for roles, responsibilities and leadership for all of us.
The challenge from VP Dooley is to stabilize county funding and optimize the funds supporting programs. Inherent in this challenge is the fact that we’ve lost close to 50% of our academics and our county partners are currently reacting to lower revenues with an expectation that revenues will be insufficient to support the existing county governmental structures.

As you may be aware, each of ANR's statewide programs undergo a five-year review to assess the program's activities and impacts of the past five years, and to make recommendations for the program's future. In May 2008, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) underwent a programmatic review conducted by an expert committee. The review committee was charged with assessing EFNEP's program management, resource utilization, decision-making, communication, and impact in California. BOC adds financial services staff
Cherie McDougald, chief administrative officer of the UC ANR Business Operations Center for county-based Cooperative Extension (based at Kearney Research & Extension Center), has announced the hiring of additional staff members for the BOC Financial Services Team.
The four new BOC Financial Services staff members are Helen Moriyama, Laura Gonzales, Guillermina Garcia and Maryann DeLecce.
Moriyama, who began her career appointment with the BOC on May 20, is a former UC Davis employee with the California Animal Health & Food Safety System’s Fresno Lab from 1987 through the closing of the Fresno branch in July 2009.
