ANR academics working in natural resources and animal sciences will want to hold Oct. 9 and 10 for program team meetings at the International House at UC Berkeley.
To date, participating program teams include Forest & Rangeland Systems and Meat Production & Food Safety. To meet during this October meeting, chairs of workgroups affiliated with these program teams should complete a short survey to request space.

To address the very important strategic initiative of water, ANR has created the California Water Resources Research Institute (CWRRI). Aligned with other state water institutes supported in part by the federal Water Resources Research Act, the CWRRI will be the California part of the National Institute for Water Research (NIWR) and will support research and extension activities that contribute to the quality, quantity, reliability and efficient management of California’s water resources.
ANR has begun recruitment for an inaugural director who can provide leadership and operational management for the CWRRI and serve as ANR’s strategic initiative leader for Water Quality, Quantity and Security.

Sharon Junge returns to retirement in March
Sharon Junge, interim statewide 4-H Youth Development Program director and Healthy Families and Communities (HFC) Strategic Initiative leader, will end her recall from ANR retirement in March. In addition to a distinguished ANR career, Junge has provided critical leadership to ANR and spearheading organizational shifts and transitions including the newly created Youth, Families and Communities (YFC) statewide program, serving on Program Council and leading the development and organization of the HFC strategic plan and conference.
