A Kern County radio show devoted a significant portion of a recent broadcast to UC Cooperative Extension. County director Brian Marsh was the guest on First Look with Scott Cox, which airs on Kern Radio Newstalk 1180. Editor of the Bakersfield Californian editorial page, Bob Price, was an interviewer on the program.
During the program, Marsh explained the role UCCE has played in the Kern County community for nearly 100 years. He noted that UCCE will celebrate its centennial in 2014.

Petroleum and coal products, with a 19.9 percent share, was the largest export sector in the Bakersfield-Delano market in 2010. Following closely behind was agriculture, with 19.4 percent of local exports, reported Courtenay Edelhard in the Bakersfield Californian.
