Last year I had great success growing Intermediate day onions (Candy) which I sowed indoors on January 26 and planted out in mid Feb. They grew very well, and bulbed up in midsummer, dried and ready for harvest at the end of August. Bulbs averaged around 1lb. each.

I too have had good luck with the intermediate day onions in the spring. I love the Walla Walla, and growing a short day onion during the shorter days around winter is an interesting idea. I look forward to the results.
