"The results show that insecticide seed coating may not". From a Seed Technology company viewpoint (mine)this quote is quite an indictment against insecticides in pelleted seed. More accurately it may be assumed these specific materials might be ineffective under these circumstances. It is also helpful to realize that while Dr.Taylor has distinguished himself numerous times in the Seed Physiology field that distinction does not hold true for pelleting prowess.  
The future of seed applied plant protection is a bright one and an important enough a tool that care should be taken when investigating it.
