Mark thank you very much for this information. Growing and maintaining strawberries is a science and this is part of the puzzle. This information is vital, chill hours and NOAA for us PCA'S that need to be vigilant for insect pressure.(mites).  
The service the extension offers is very much appreciated.

Thank you for your kind comments Lorenzo. I'm a pretty steady guy who faces stock volatility and resulting financial loss with equanimity, but when it comes to plant chill on the Central Coast, I lose my sense of ease and start to worry. I thought perhaps a short discussion of the matter might be helpful to my readers and square the matter away in my mind for now.
