Five, yes, 5 monarchs were seen 20 minutes, 3 miles north of the UC Davis Department of Entomology one week ago in a freeway cloverleaf that contained milkweed. Three of them were captured on video: https://youtu.be/y-Aw7NaInVY

Kathy, did you see the article about the town in Maine that is “overrun” with monarch chrysalis?

I am Ovaltine's human. It is Sept. 4 and I still have 2-3 groups of monarchs on my property, still laying eggs, practically on the stalks. This is either a shout-out from them telling us to wise-up or it's a once in a lifetime phenom. We shall see next year if the scent left behind by so many draws the future kids of Ovaltine. Then my theory could possibly be true in that some return home.
Egg and 'cat count in my yard is 2828. "On the wings of monarchs, our journey begins."

We will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of overwintering monarchs at the Pismo Grove this year. We hope some are from Brookings! Monarchs started arriving in my CA Central Coast garden five weeks ago.
