The ground beetle you have pictured sure looks a lot like the cockroaches that run around my yard and patio on summer nights (oriental cockroaches, I believe). Are you saying these insects are really beneficial? If not - what is pictured, and what is the difference?

Yes, it's hard for us non-entomologists to know the difference, isn't it? In short, ground beetles are your garden friends, cockroaches not so much. Here are two links that might help you tell the difference: For more on cockroaches - http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/QT/cockroachescard.html

I loved this blog post, but I noticed that the picture labeled "Dragonfly" seems to really be a damselfly. Although I'm told that dragonflies and damselflies are close cousins, I can usually tell them apart.  
 
Do you suppose somebody could switch out that picture with one of an actual dragonfly?
