Scary Plant!

Walking around my neighborhood, I noticed that quite a few of my neighbors have gone all-out decorating for Halloween giant skeletons and spiders, fake cobwebs, plastic pumpkins, witches and ghouls. And as always, I started looking at the plants. One that I am seeing more of is Datura.

A Good Day for a Praying Mantis

It was a good day for a praying mantis. It was not a good day for a honey bee. Here's what happened in the "Daily Insect News": a gravid praying mantis, Stagmomantis limbata, ambushed and ate a honey bee on a Mexican sunflower, Tithonia rotundifola, in a Vacaville pollinator garden.
