A typical day for Dee Keese starts with a 10-mile walk at 5 a.m. and her morning wraps up with a swim. Although Keese is in her late 70s, her daily routine would not surprise you if you knew what she has been doing for the last 48 years.

Yields and nitrogen management following a fallow year

Last year roughly half of the rice acreage was left fallow. We have been conducting research (funded by the Rice Research Board) looking at the differences between rice grown after a fallow versus rice grown following rice. We have found that rice following a fallow has higher yield potential.

Those Blooming Baskets

Spring is here! We're all excited to make that first visit to our local nursery where we'll be tempted to buy one or more of those lush and inviting hanging baskets. As we hang them up, we have dreams of their blooms being long-lasting and lovely all spring and summer long.
