In Benicia, the home of Avant Community Garden on First Street, the windiest part of the year lasts 5.2 months from April 2 through September 9, according to Weather Spark (www.weatherspark.com.) The windiest month is June and as I write this, the average wind speed today is 19.
The Intermountain REC annual field day is this Thursday, July 28th, 2022. The tour starts at 8:30 am and ends at noon with a catered lunch for all participants. We'd love to see you attend this year! The field day agenda is attached.
Sudangrass (Sorghum bicolor L.) is a type of sorghum which is widely grown for hay, greenchop or grazing systems. Typically over 50,000 acres of sudangrass are grown for hay in the Imperial Valley of California, much of it exported to Japan.
Have you noticed the amount of poison oak lately? One of the bike trails in Vacaville that I often walk with my dogs is surrounded by it. Poison oak (Toxicodendron diversilobum) exists throughout a good part of the state minus the desert.
