Attention grape growers:

In April and June of this year, Northern California Costco's received shipments of plant material infested with glassy-winged sharpshooters (GWSS). These invasive insects can transmit a grapevine disease, Pierce's disease, that could cause important consequences for the grape industry if it is to become established in our counties.

Please join your local UCCE Advisor, MacKenzie Patton, and the Amador Wine Grape Growers Association to learn about this incident and get a in depth look at GWSS and how this could impact grape growers .

We will cover:

  • How and what happened.
  • Information on the insect and the disease it vectors, Pierce’s Disease.
  • How to identify all GWSS lifestage.
  • Considerations in response to the current situations.

Coffee and refreshments will be available.
