In the Weeds

This past week I have seen up to four monarch caterpillars and yesterday, there were none. At the beginning of the week, I was doing my daily count and there was a good-sized lizard attempting to eat one of the larger caterpillars. Lizards are known predators. I came to the rescue on that day and scared them off. The following day, the count was down to two and the next day down to one. Saturday was my last sighting of the very large caterpillar, which looked like they might be ready to become a chrysalis. On Sunday, no more caterpillars and no chrysalis sightings. Now, the only thing to do is wait.
