Livestock production/Forage quality/Beef-on-dairy steer production

Brooke Latack has a M.S. in Animal Science and currently serves as the University of California Cooperative Extension Livestock Advisor for Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Her work while at Michigan State University centered largely around animal protein production and movement of nutrients through production systems. Since joining UC ANR in 2017, Brooke has developed a program with emphasis in feedlot cattle production, particularly looking at dairy calf management, feedlot nutrition, feedlot cattle health, and beef-on-dairy cattle in the feedlot. Brooke addresses concerns from small acreage producers by providing resources, particularly for new producers, as well as organizing extension activities. She also participates in research and extension related to forage production and quality for livestock consumption, including novel forage options to reduce feed cost.
