Andy Lyons

Andy Lyons serves as a Program Coordinator for the Informatics and GIS (IGIS) Statewide Program. In this capacity, he provides general programmatic oversight and leads projects focused on weather and climate data science, decision support tools, R programming, spatial analysis, and applications of GIS. His teaching portfolio includes periodic workshops on R programming, working with weather and climate data, agroclimate metrics, decision support tools, spatial analysis, data management, drone mapping, and tools in the ArcGIS ecosystem.

Dr. Lyons holds a B.A. in mathematics from Duke University, an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from UC Berkeley. His research background includes analysis of spatiotemporal patterns in wildlife movement, population modeling, remote sensing of land use and land cover change, and the political economy of international conservation and development projects.
