(He/Him/His)
Weed Management Advisor
B.S. Plant Science, California State University Fresno. 2013
My name is Jorge Angeles, and I am the new weed ecology and management advisor that will be serving Tulare, Kings and Fresno counties. I will be covering weed management in all crops and non-crop settings in these counties. I was born and raised in Tulare County, and I have been working in agriculture my entire life. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in plant science from Fresno State with an emphasis on plant health. While attending Fresno State, I was involved in weed management studies of different herbicide resistant weeds. For my Master’s thesis, I observed the herbicide carryover effects of pre-emergent herbicides used in processing tomatoes. Before working with the UC Cooperative Extension, I worked for DuPont Crop Protection where I was involved in pesticide efficacy trials in different orchard and vegetable crops. I have worked for the UC Cooperative Extension for 6 years assisting Robert Hutmacher, UC Cooperative Extension Cotton Specialist, with cotton and sorghum research work in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
