Laljeet Singh Sangha

Laljeet Sangha is the Assistant Community Water Systems/Supply Advisor with UC Cooperative Extension, serving the Southern San Joaquin Valley, specifically Kern, Kings, and Tulare counties. His research and extension program explores the critical intersection of Drinking and Agricultural water systems while bridging the water supply and quality issues with community development.

Laljeet also provides technical assistance and guidance on key water management policies, such as SGMA ,and the ILRP, collaborating with farmers, water managers, and rural communities to promote sustainable water use, regulatory compliance, and climate resilience. His work explores the impacts of drought, contamination, and increased demand on Agricultural and Community water systems, while promoting resilience through collaborative partnerships with state agencies, community water groups, and UC ANR’s California Institute for Water Resources. Additionally, he engages in research, outreach, and capacity-building efforts to help stakeholders navigate evolving water regulations and adopt best management practices.

Laljeet Sangha holds an Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, MS in Biosystems Engineering from Auburn University, Alabama and BS in Agricultural Engineering from Punjab Agricultural University, India with a strong focus on water systems, water policy, and agricultural resilience. Before joining UCANR, Laljeet worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Northern Arizona University and Clemson University, where he contributed to hydrological and agricultural systems modeling, and water policy planning and research. In his journey, he has worked on State Water Plans of Virginia and South Carolina.
