California Naturalist Course with Grassroots Ecology’s Naturalist Internship
About the Event
Grassroots Ecology's 9-week (June 15th to August 14th, 2026) Naturalist Internship provides college students and recent graduates an opportunity to explore a career in environmental conservation and to deepen their understanding of California natural history. Through outdoor education and hands-on field training, interns gain local ecological knowledge, habitat restoration skills, a robust professional network, and valuable experience in the environmental field. Upon completion of the internship, participants will earn the California Naturalist certification. This program is designed to provide an empowering space for growth, with a focus on leadership, communication, and community-building skills.

Organization Description: For over 30 years, Grassroots Ecology has served the community with high quality volunteer-based environmental stewardship programs. We are passionate about our mission of involving, educating, and inspiring the public to create healthy ecosystems in our urban communities, natural lands, and waters.
Our team engages thousands of people annually in hands-on restoration, citizen science, and educational programs in the Silicon Valley region. We are grassroots by name and grassroots by philosophy. It is by working and learning together that we, as a community, have the power to reinvigorate our local part of the planet.
