Event Code of Conduct/Dress Guidelines
The Santa Barbara County 4-H Exhibit Day, is a highly anticipated annual event that brings together 4-H youth members from across the county to showcase their skills and come together. This year, we plan to have food vendors on-site for convenient lunch options, including Whiskey Bent BBQ and Crave Mini Donuts.
Our committee has also arranged a variety of workshops and additional activities, including a floral workshop led by Knights FFA members, How to Write a Buyer's Letter, led by Katy Dockstader, and a chance to challenge your knowledge with animal-level testing.
Participants can enter a wide variety of still exhibits—including arts and crafts, baking, photography, woodworking, science displays, and more—demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and mastery of project work. These entries are evaluated on both craftsmanship and presentation, providing valuable feedback and recognition for the youth’s hard work.
A major focus of the day is animal showmanship, where members present their project animals and demonstrate their knowledge, handling skills, and care routines. Animal categories include beef, market goats, sheep, dairy goats, and swine in Large Stock, and in Small Stock, pygmy goats, cavies, rabbits, and poultry. Youth are judged not just on how well their animals perform, but on their ability to confidently and knowledgeably present themselves and their projects.
Beyond the exhibits and animal competitions, the event fosters community spirit, sportsmanship, and personal growth. This event serves as a stepping stone for youth preparing for upcoming fairs and higher-level competitions, while also offering a supportive environment for learning and leadership development.
The 4-H Exhibit Day is a celebration of youth achievement, hard work, and the vibrant community that supports positive youth development in Santa Barbara County.

We are excited to announce that our 2026 4-H Exhibit Day will take place on May 9, 2026. This year, we have assembled a fantastic committee of volunteers who are enthusiastic about reviving the spirit of Exhibit Day, focused on bringing the 4-H community and public together for a day of education and fun.
The event will feature divisions for both small and large livestock in Showmanship and Market classes, along with still exhibits for our members to showcase their craftsmanship. Youth members will also be selling items made in their 4-H projects to raise money for their individual 4-H clubs and share their projects with their 4-H community.
To make this day a success and bring our community together, we need your support. 4-H plays a crucial role in helping our youth develop into the best versions of themselves. Donations and other forms of partnership will help make this event a successful one and help provide us with the tools we need to ensure that our young people grow up to be thriving adults and leaders in our community.
