Archived Water Resources Center Projects
During its operation until 2008, the California Water Resources Center reviewed research proposals received annually. Research proposals selected for funding had to be both relevant to water issues in California and scientifically sound. Executive summaries and annual reports for funded projects can be found under each of the following categories:
- Category I - Hydrology, Climatology & Hydraulics
Physical processes governing water transformations through atmosphere, over land, and in natural water bodies, aquifers, and man-made conduits. - Category II - Aquatic Ecosystems
Basic observational, analytical, and theoretical knowledge about aquatic environments and ecosystems. - Category III - Water Quality
All aspects of water quality management. - Category IV - Water Development & Management Alternatives
Economic and systems analyses approach for formulating and evaluating water resources planning, development, and management alternatives. - Category V - Water Law, Institutions & Policy
All aspects of institutional framework (policies, laws, administrative processes, and regulations) for developing and managing water resources. - Salinity/Drainage Program
In addition to the project categories above, the Salinity/Drainage Program (no longer active) funded projects focused on interpretation and dissemination of research knowledge on salinity, drainage, selenium, and other toxic element problems in the San Joaquin Valley. The program worked closely with state agencies and support research, extension, and education activities.
