Earth Friendly Gardening: Analyzing Your Space
About the Event
Earth Friendly Gardening - Analyzing Your Space
Join the UC Master Gardeners of Monterey, San Benito & Santa Cruz Counties for this hands-on summer workshop!
The first step in creating a healthy, successful garden is understanding your garden site. Earth-friendly gardening begins with working with your environment to create landscapes that are beautiful, resilient, and easier to maintain.
During this workshop, we’ll conduct a site analysis of our surroundings using tools and techniques you can apply in your own garden. Together, we’ll explore questions such as:
- How much sunlight does your garden receive?
- How does sunlight change throughout the year?
- What is your microclimate?
- What type of soil do you have?
- What plants already grow well in your area?
You’ll learn how these factors influence plant selection and placement, and you’ll leave with resources to help you choose the right plants for the right places in your garden.
Arboretum admission can be purchased directly through the registration page when reserving your spot and includes full access to the Arboretum and Botanic Garden as well as the class.
