MCP Starting Cool-Season Vegetables From Seed - San Jose
About the Event
It’s Summertime! Why think about starting a Cool-Season Garden in July? Because it’s time to start seeds to grow the vegetables you love to eat in Winter! Our cool season stays warm enough to allow us to grow a great variety of tasty vegetables, from beets to broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, kale or leeks, lettuce, peas, radishes, spinach, and more, all while other people are busy shoveling snow!
Join UC Master Gardener Laura Westley as she discusses which cool-season vegetables grow best here, why August is the time to start them from seed, how to prepare your soil, and what to consider for watering and fertilizing to make this your best cool-season garden ever!
Please note:
- Participants should wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing, and a hat, as the class is held outdoors.
