Children's Garden
This area shows parents, grandparents and teachers how to develop and encourage a child’s interest in gardening. The whimsy of the Zoo Garden (plants with animal names) and the teepee offer places for children to explore and use their imagination. We plant veggies and flowers in small raised beds that germinate quickly and are fun for children to pick and eat e.g. strawberries, radishes, cherry tomatoes, lettuces and sunflowers. On the teepee we have planted gourds, pumpkins and hyacinth beans plus crops that will cover the teepee quickly and offer items the children can use later. Miss Nancy, our scarecrow lady, stands in a plot of buffalo grass, a tough drought tolerant grass suitable for lots of playtime.
