Mission Garden
This area demonstrates the use of a theme in creating a garden – in this case a California Mission theme. The California Mission gardens needed to supply medicinal plants, vegetables, fruits and culinary herbs. Plants selected are not exact cultivars used by the missionaries but are in the same family. Some plants used were: rosemary, sage, strawberries, lemon verbena, yarrow, echinacea, feverfew, buckwheat, rue, asparagus, onion, potato, jasmine, grapes, hollyhocks, lilac, lavender and pomegranate.
This garden features an enramada and a grape arbor.
Several information boards are on display in this garden, including map of the California Missions.
