Who: 
 
Adult volunteers seeking certification as a Level 1 Instructor (Project Leader) in the Western Heritage discipline.  Level 1.5 Instructor (Local Trainer) certification may be offered to specific individuals depending upon background and performance.  This is done at the discretion of the workshop instructor.  Teen Leaders may attend, provided they are affiliated with a project in the discipline.  Teen Leaders successfully completing the workshop receive Level 1 Instructor certification with a "Teen Leader" designation.  They may act as a resource within their project and assist the adult project leader with delivery, but cannot lead a project on their own.

Fees and Payment:
  • There is a $35 fee that helps cover the cost of materials.
  • Payment must be made by check payable to Merced County 4-H.
  • Please mail checks and all forms to UCCE Merced, Attn: 4-H Shooting Sports, 2145 Wardrobe Ave
    Merced, CA 95341.

Additional Notes: 
  • This workshop has a maximum of 20 participants in each of the disciplines.
  • Light morning refreshments, water, and snacks will be provided.
  • Restrooms, running, water, and electricity are on site.
  • Equipment will be provided.
  • Lodging is available nearby in Merced and surrounding areas.  Participants may also dry camp at the site.  If you wish to camp, please contact Dave Givens.  
  • Participants must attend both days in order to receive credit.
  • Certification is not complete and participants are not authorized to lead shooting sports projects or activities in their discipline until they have submitted an application for certification to the California State 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator and received a certification letter from the California State 4-H Office.
  • Attendance at a shooting sports workshop does not guarantee certification.  The California 4-H Shooting Sports Program reserves the right to deny certification based on safety violations and/or an attitude or disposition that does not align with the mission, goals, approach, or methods of the program.
Please Bring the Following:
  • Comfortable clothing for inside and outside training activities.
  • Close-toed shoes.
  • Lunch for both days.
