Accessibility

Website accessibility is federally mandated. Websites with significant inaccessible components can be seen as discriminatory against persons with disabilities, in violation of Title III of the ADA, which is a strict liability law.

We recommend that all web content creators in the division learn how to create accessible digital content in compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA guidance. There are numerous resources available in this area, including internal training and training on LinkedIn Learning.

Anyone with a UC ANR website can access a tool called Siteimprove that gives an accessibility score for the site and identifies items to address. Contact help@ucanr.edu to get access to Siteimprove and view the accessibility report for your site.

Penn State has published tips for creating accessible content and summaries of the WCAG guidelines that may be helpful as well.
