Under the general direction of the Community Nutrition and Health Advisor, the Program Supervisor (Community Education Supervisor 2) is responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, management, and evaluation of the Orange County CalFresh Healthy Living Program for low income adults and youth (a SNAP-Ed program).
The overall goals of the program are to 1) promote literacy of food and nutrition, and 2) support communities where low-income students, adults and families can live healthy lifestyles. These goals are accomplished by directly teaching youth and adults (or training volunteers to extend lessons) about healthy eating, food resource management, food safety, and physical activity. These goals are also accomplished by creating policies, systems and environments that contribute to a healthy community, including but not limited to: school and community gardens, school and worksite wellness policies, fitness programs, etc.
To support the program, the Program Supervisor (Community Education Supervisor 2) works with the Community Health and Nutrition Advisor, CalFresh Healthy Living Regional Manager, Program Coordinator, and program staff to deliver high-quality nutrition education and programming. Responsibilities include supervising and training staff, overseeing annual budgets and expenditures, developing and implementing yearly work plans, tracking/evaluating work plan activities and objectives, and writing reports. This position ensures approved procedures are followed across Orange County, serves as the primary point of contact with funding agencies, collaborates with other agencies providing related services in Orange County, builds and maintains formal and informal coalitions of partners, supports nutrition education and other strategies to promote community nutrition, and maintains subject matter competence.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Pay Scale: $61,800.00/year to $84,900.00/year
